A Terrific Thursday

Hello  everybody!

Once again, I apologize it's been awhile. It's been hard to keep up on here with everything going on. Today I made a shopping trip to Harris Teeter and ended up getting 28 grocery items for $50.86 and saved $43.56. Woohoo!! They had some great deals this week and a lot of B1G1's!

I shopped mainly the sales, so the total wasn't bad for only using 4 coupons!!!

The deal I was the most proud of was their "Meal Deal" of the week. I got a family size Stouffer's lasagna, Pepperidge Farm garlic bread, Pict'Sweet Steamables veggies and a HT unsweet tea all for $7.78! It was supposed to be $9.99, but since I had a Stouffer's coupon (check their FB page) I got it at an even more discounted price.

Last night the family made a trip to Target and I ended up scoring a FREE adorable placemat! They were (are) on sale for $3 and I printed off a $3 off Target web coupon that I used. (Go check it out and get yours). The placemat is adorable and I plan on going back and getting more. :)
In this picture is also a poinsettia I got for $.99 at Home Depot on Black Friday! I thought it made a great centerpiece.
I had a fall tablecloth I got at Walmart for $3, but bought a new one today for $3.97. It just went so much better with my Christmas-y decorations, and I'm a sucker for some Christmas decorations.

What kind of deals did you guys get for Black Friday?
I got a doorbuster light up wheel Razor scooter from Target, some $6.92 28 piece Rubbermaid Tupperware and some pretty great deals I can't share on here just yet because my husband will see them. ;)

Now it's time to share my favorite part about today! My husband came home and surprised us with early Christmas presents. I opened mine to find........ a dog food bowl?!
Turns out one of my husband's co-workers is giving us a FREE 9 week old puppy! We are ridiculously excited. Our 4 year old has already picked out his name....... Scotland. :) He's a lab/Australian Shepherd mix and we are going to pick him up tomorrow.
I also wanted to share that I already went out and bought him some dog food tonight at Harris Teeter and I got it on sale for $15.12! I used a $1.10/1 Purina Puppy Chow coupon and got two 16 lb. bags B1G1. That made them about $7.56 apiece.

Y'all know I will be posting pics of him soon too, haha. :)

One last thing I wanted to share is one of my favorite warmers from Scentsy!

Can we say adorable?! And it's only $20! Run run, as fast as you can for this adorable plug-in warmer! To get yours, go to mrsjdavis.scentsy.us. I've also got some deals going on right now so if you'd like to hear them email me at Jodiex07@aol.com. I can't post them on here but message me and I'd be glad to tell you what I've got going on!!

Thanks for reading and I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Til next time.

Couponing Trip and Financial Tips

Hey everyone!

So sorry I have not been posting on here recently. It has been insanely busy between couponing, preparing for Thanksgiving, Christmas shopping, Black Friday Planning, etc. I did want to take a minute to share what has been going on in the Davis household the past few days.

As some of you know, we recently moved from AL to NC and I have a friend from high school here whose roommate is a photographer. She gave us a fantastic deal on family pictures (for our Christmas cards) and I wanted to share them here! Her business is out of High Point, NC and called Oh Snap! Photography. She is seriously awesome.

This one was one of my personal favorites and probably one we'll use for the Christmas cards. This next one was a close runner up.

What do you guys think?? I'd love to hear some feedback!

Sunday I went shopping at Harris Teeter for our weekly grocery buying trip. I spent just a few days this time planning and checking sales and I must say I was incredibly proud of my savings this time!!! We spent $119.54 and saved $97.17. Needless to say, I was ecstatic!!

This time, I didn't buy anything that wasn't on sale or that I didn't have a coupon for. Except for eggs, bread and milk which we HAD to have (and I bought store brand). It helped tremendously switching from Food Lion to Harris Teeter and shopping the sales. I once again used coupons from Coupons.com, RedPlum.com and SmartSource.com. I also got a LOT of Buy One Get Ones and even scored deals that weren't listed in store! :)

This was me and Eli in Harris Teeter with our buggy full of groceries. As you can tell, he was ecstatic about being in the store. Haha. ;)
I think the deal I was most proud of was the vanilla extract I got on sale and was Buy One Get One that wasn't listed in store AND the Thanksgiving turkey we got for $7 off!

Next, I'd like to share what I've been working on tonight. If you are trying to better manage your finances or save money, go check out LearnVest.com. It is a FREE 10 Day Financial Bootcamp! You spend just 5 minutes a day helping you get your finances organized. I heard about this from AProverbsWife.com (one of my favorite sites).
I set up our family budget tonight and linked our bank account to this site which allowed me to see where our money is going every month. I set up our budget in different labeled folders to control where our money goes and keep an eye on how much we have left for expenses each month. I know it may be hard to understand on here, but I promise it is worth checking out and signing up for if you are struggling with finances.

Well friends, I believe it's now time to get the little boy (and big boy) in bed. :) I hope you all have a great night and a wonderful Thanksgiving week!

'Tis the Season

Good morning, everyone!

Yesterday was a busy, busy day so I did not get to post on here. I was exhausted at the end of the day so we actually went out to eat last night. I know, I know, bad example. But we DID have a coupon for a free meal at Zaxby's so all 3 of us ate for 11 bucks. :)

I realized this morning (on my Scentsy warmer of course) that there are only 39 more days 'til Christmas! OH MY GOODNESS. Have you guys started your shopping yet??

We have started a bit but not as much as I'd like. So today I'd like to share some deals with y'all I've taken advantage of myself just in case you need some help with ideas!!

Number one is this (or other) adorable warmers from Scentsy! Like I said the other day, Scentsy is perfect for making your home feel and look inviting... Not to mention it smells AMAZING! Go check out mrsjdavis.scentsy.us and look under the "Combine and Save" packages that are designed to help you get the most for your buck. And don't forget to pick up one for you while you're there. ;) There are some awesome deals going on right now and I'd be happy to help you choose yours!

Another deal I'd like to share is one Santa Claus himself actually got for our little one, Mr. Eli. I found this one on Amazon this week and it actually came in yesterday! I don't know if y'all have heard of or seen the "Happy Nappers" but they are too adorable and I was extremely pleased with the size and quality of mine when it came in! Not to mention the price - I got mine (shipping and everything) for $9.87. You've got to go and google the Happy Nappers song, but don't come back here getting onto me when it's stuck in your head all day. ;)

Last but NOT least is a deal that's only good through today! Vistaprint is offering FREE address labels and you only pay for shipping, which ends up being about $3. Not bad, huh? I ordered some adorable ones today for our Christmas cards and then another set for Christmas presents! You can also order some for the kids from Santa himself! I LOVE them.

Well, that's all for today, folks! The hubby just walked in the door and we are about to head out to go look at houses and hopefully we find the right one. If you've been house hunting or ever purchased a home, you know our pain. Wish us luck or say a prayer! :)

God bless and I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!

Til next time,

Mrs. Davis

Another Day in the Life

Hello again! I must say that today was a great day. Our four year old and I spent the day together doing errands and watching movies. I also had a giant Scentsy order come in today that I get to deliver! I figured today I would share another recipe with y'all as well as another Scentsy deal and gift ideas.
This morning after running to the bank, I came home and stuck a roast in the crock pot. Like I need any excuse to use my crock pot! Hubby says this one was "awesome" and he had.... well, a couple plates. ;) This one was easy peasy and was ready when the hubbs walked through the door!

             Pot Roast Sliders

Ingredients:
1  2-3 lb. beef roast
1 cup water
1 cup salsa
1 envelope Onion soup mix
1 envelope Italian dressing mix
1 envelope Ranch dressing mix

Directions:
Whisk together water, salsa and seasoning packets. Place roast in slow cooker. Pour seasoning mixture over roast. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.

You can do a regular roast or make sliders. I chose to make sliders. :)

For the Sliders -
You'll need: Roast (of course), sliced swiss cheese and King's Hawaiian Rolls.
Shred roast. Cut each roll in half and place on baking sheet. Place a slice of swiss cheese on the bottom half of roll. Place baking sheet in oven with broiler on low. Broil for 1-2 minutes until edges are golden brown and cheese has melted.
Make sure you watch the oven! Our first batch came out a little toasty. :)

And of course we can't forget the side dish, right?! To go with the sliders, I did a simple green bean casserole.
You will need: 2 cans of French style green beans, 2 cans Cream of Mushroom soup and French fried onions. I used what we had leftover from last time, which was probably a little less than half a bag. This is for a family of 3 so if you have a bigger family you might want to double this recipe.

Now, simply stir together the cans of green beans and cream of mushroom. Pour it into a small pan and sprinkle the onions on top. Then, stick it in the oven on 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until the onions turn slightly brown.

There you go! A simple and delicious meal for you busy moms out there.

Now I'd like to take a minute to share some deals going on with Scentsy right now. The November warmer of the month, Holiday Lights, is currently 10% off!

The scent of the month, Peppermint Dreams, is currently 10% off as well.

Add a little holiday decor to your home without breaking the bank. Not to mention it makes your home smell delicious at the same time! I'm a sucker for making my home look and feel inviting, so if you are like me, you will love it as well.

To order yours, go to mrsjdavis.scentsy.us. :)

One last thing I'd like to share with you is something I actually purchased for my child for Christmas this year! Or errr, Santa Claus purchased.

This one came from Coupons.com, one of my new favorite sites!

When you sign up for the Disney Movie Club, you get FOUR Disney movies, a Mickey Mouse backpack AND Free shipping all for just $1! Seriously, it doesn't get much better than that. Go see for yourselves!! Disneymovieclub.go.com

Well, that's all for today folks. The hubby is ready for church and it's time to head out. Hope you enjoyed the blog today! Have a great evening, everyone.

The Sweet Life of a Wife

Hi everyone! Well, this is my first attempt at blogging so let's hope I can keep this up. :) I wanted to share a few things from today that I've done in hopes it may help some of you out.
Today was my second "big" shopping trip using coupons and I wanted to share some of the great deals I found. I spent the past 3 plus days searching for coupons, looking at sale papers, and planning my shopping trip. I ended up spending $144.71 and saved $43.73. The total savings wasn't as much as I'd hoped for, but it still wasn't bad for just beginning! I got my coupons from Coupons.com, Redplum.com and also bought 5 Sunday papers and used the coupons from that.

As you can see, that's a WHOLE lotta stuff for 144 bucks! If you have a Food Lion near you, I'd suggest going there and checking the sale papers. I got a lot of these items Buy One Get One Free. You can't beat free. :)

Tonight's dinner was delicious AND easy. I whipped it together in about 10 minutes and stuck it in the oven for 30.

                                   Chicken Alfredo Bake

Ingredients:
1 (16 oz.) package elbow/penned macaroni - I used elbow
Alfredo sauce
1 (8 oz.) container sour cream
1 (15 oz.) container ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese works just as well)
2 garlic cloves
3 cups cooked chicken, chopped
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped parsley
2 cups mozzarella cheese

Directions:
Prepare pasta according to package directions. Drain and return to pot. Stir together all ingredients except mozzarella cheese. Spread mixture into a lightly greased 13 x 9 baking dish. Sprinkle evenly with mozzarella cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbly.

And voila! There you have it. Serve with a side of garlic bread or dinner rolls. The hubbs absolutely loved it, along with our four year old. And we all know how tough it can be to get four year olds to eat their dinner. ;)

One last thing I'd like to share would be some of the great deals going on right now with Scentsy. If you need Christmas gift ideas for the kids, or for those hard to buy relatives/friends, you really can't go wrong with Scentsy. Scentsy buddies AND fragrance foams are buy one get one free and as I mentioned earlier, you can't beat free!

If you want to place an order for yours, just go to mrsjdavis.scentsy.us OR send me an email.

I hope you enjoyed my blog! Have a blessed day!
